Wildlife and Environment

The Department of Wildlife and Environment provides advice on the implementation of Inuit wildlife harvesting rights and Inuit responsibilities related to wildlife management under the Nunavut Agreement (Article 5). The department participates in the development of plans, policies and procedures to ensure that Nunavut wildlife and natural resources are managed to maximize their benefit to Inuit, and provides policy development support on issues related to environment, water and marine management activities in Nunavut.
