Marine

The Department of Marine is responsible for implementing the Marine Framework and Action Plan, which focuses on three areas regarding Nunavut marine issues and activities: conservation, sustainable economic development, and shipping and security. Key areas include building capacity related to marine opportunities in Nunavut, supporting and enhancing Inuit marine governance envisioned in the Nunavut Agreement, advancing marine spatial planning, supporting Inuit-led marine conservation, fisheries reconciliation, and improving shipping sustainability and marine safety.
