(August 19, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated (NTI) President Gloria Uluqsi announced that Monica Ell-Kanayuk, in collaboration with Ayaya Marketing & Communications, has been appointed as the Chief Returning Officer (CRO) for the upcoming NTI Election for two Vice-Presidents, scheduled to take place on Monday, December 14, 2026.

The nomination period for this election will be held from Monday, November 2 to Friday, November 6, 2026. To be eligible to run or vote, individuals must be Canadian citizens, at least 16 years old as of December 14, 2026, and enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement. Once the nomination period begins, nomination packages will be available from the CRO, Community Liaison Officers, and through the NTI website.

It is the responsibility of each candidate to ensure that completed nomination documents, including a criminal record check, are submitted to the CRO by the required deadline. Nomination papers received after the deadline will not be accepted, and the individual will not be eligible to participate in the December 2026 Election. Candidates may formally withdraw their nomination up until Monday, November 9, 2026. Voters participating in the December 2026 Election will be able to cast their ballots using one of five available voting options. These methods include advance voting on December 7, 2026, mobile polls, proxy voting, mail-in ballots, or voting in person on election day, December 14, 2026.
