NTI Statement Regarding NIRB Report on Baffinland’s Phase 2 Proposal

(May 13, 2022, Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) acknowledges the receipt of Nunavut Impact Review Board’s (NIRB) Report on Baffinland Iron Mine Corporation’s (Baffinland) proposal on Mary River Project Phase 2. NTI is currently reviewing the Report and plans to provide further comments on the content of the Report at a later time. NTI acknowledges the hard work of NIRB members and staff in reaching this final milestone, and appreciates the participation and dedication of Inuit, hunters and trappers organizations, hamlets and other community organizations throughout the NIRB process. NTI’s mandate is to protect Inuit rights and advance Inuit economic, social and cultural well-being through the implementation of the Nunavut Agreement.
