Iqaluit COVID-19 Walk-in Vaccination Clinic

June 2, 2021 – Iqaluit, Nunavut) Iqalummiut ages 12 and older will be able to receive their COVID-19 vaccine during an Iqaluit COVID-19 Walk-in Vaccination Clinic. Who: Iqalummiut ages 12 and older Date: June 16 – 19, 2021 Time: 1:00 to 10:00 pm Location: Curling Rink Three door prizes have been provided by the City of Iqaluit: a Distancing Outdoors Prize with a value of $500; a Stay-at-Home Baking Prize with a value of $500; and a Home Cleaning and Sanitizing Prize with a value of $500. Anyone attending the walk-in clinic is eligible. Inuit will receive a $25 voucher after each dose from Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated (NTI). The Iqaluit COVID-19 Walk-in Vaccination Clinic is a partnership of Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated, Qikiqtani Inuit Association, the Government of Nunavut Department of Health and the City of Iqaluit with support provided by Qaujigiartiit Health Research Centre. The Iqaluit COVID-19 Walk-in Vaccination Clinic is funded in-part by NTI with funding from the Government of Canada’s Indigenous Community Support Fund. I got vaccinated as soon as I was eligible,” said NTI President Aluki Kotierk. “The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is the next step for a return to normal life for Qikiqtani Inuit,” said QIA President P.J. Akeeagok. “For the safety and protection of our Elders and young people, I urge all community members who have not received their vaccine to call their local health centre and book an appointment or attend this vaccine clinic.” “Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech are effective and safe, but it’s normal to wonder about vaccine safety. I urge Nunavummiut to get information from credible sources, and not from social media. By now, vaccines have been tested and given to millions of people around the world, and those are the vaccines we have here in Nunavut. Please get vaccinated, if you haven’t already,” said Nunavut Premier Joe Savikataaq. “We are working together to protect Iqalummiut. We are also working together to protect Nunavummiut who travel here for medical travel. Iqaluit, we need to get the vaccine for the safety of ourselves, our families, our community and the territory,” said Iqaluit Mayor Kenny Bell.
